Crowns, Bridges & Root Canals
Crowns, bridges and root canal treatment in Vancouver to save and strengthen damaged teeth.
A crown covers a tooth that is cracked, heavily filled or weakened, restoring its shape and strength. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring to the teeth on either side.
When the nerve inside a tooth is infected or inflamed, root canal treatment removes the infection and keeps the tooth in place. With modern anaesthetic it feels much like having a filling.
What to expect
- 1
Diagnosis
We examine the tooth, take X-rays and explain the options for saving it.
- 2
Treatment
The tooth is treated and shaped, and an impression or scan is taken. You leave with a temporary.
- 3
Fitting
Your permanent crown or bridge is fitted, checked against your bite and cemented.
Common questions
Is a root canal painful?
The tooth is fully numbed, and the treatment relieves the pain caused by the infection. Mild tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal.
How long does a crown last?
Often ten to fifteen years or longer, depending on your bite, home care and whether you grind your teeth.
Crown, bridge or implant — which do I need?
A crown restores a tooth you still have. A bridge or implant replaces one that's missing. We'll go through the trade-offs for your situation.
We look forward to meeting you.
