Dental Implants

Dental implants in Vancouver to replace one tooth or several — planned, placed and restored at Broadway & Granville Dentist.

An implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of a tooth root. Once it has bonded with the jawbone, it supports a crown, bridge or denture that looks and works like natural teeth.

Because an implant stands on its own, the neighbouring teeth don't need to be reshaped, and the bone underneath stays in use.

What to expect

  1. 1

    Consultation and imaging

We examine the site, take scans and confirm whether an implant suits you.

  2. 2

    Placement

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. Most people compare it to having a tooth removed.

  3. 3

    Healing

Over a few months the implant bonds with the bone. A temporary tooth can fill the gap.

  4. 4

    Your new tooth

A custom crown is attached and adjusted to match your bite and shade.

Common questions

How long do dental implants last?

With good home care and regular checkups, implants can last many years. The crown on top may need replacing sooner from normal wear.

Does getting an implant hurt?

The area is fully numbed during placement. Soreness afterwards is usually mild and managed with over-the-counter pain relief for a few days.

Am I a candidate for implants?

Most healthy adults are. We check bone volume, gum health and medical history at the consultation, and let you know if grafting or another option makes more sense.

We look forward to meeting you.
